 Patrick Fitzgerald joined our club in May 2006. Since that time he has achieved a lot of awards and has grown much from the experience! He achieved his Distinguished Toastmaster Award (the highest award available in Toastmasters) in July 2007, has been an Area Governor, assistant Division Governor and is still working the Toastmasters Educational Program to imporve his Communication and Leadership skills. Patrick has served many terms as a club officer in Rio Copa and is currently our President.

Rio Copa Toastmasters have achieved President's Distinguished status, the highest that a club can receive, for the fourth year in a row! This is the second year in a row that we have achieved all 10 Distinguished Club Program goals.
The 10 goals are a combination of member achievements, membership growth, officer training, an administrative tasks.
A new Toastmasters year starts July 1st.
Clubs with at least 20 members OR with net growth of
at least five new members at June 30
which also do the following are
eligible for TI recognition at year end.

Steven Martindale Achieves Advanced Communicator Bronze! |

 Steven Martindale was a founding member of Rio Copa Toastmasters. He has been club President, Vice President of Education, Secretary, and is the incoming Vice President Membership for Rio Copa Toastmasters. Steven has been a pivotal member of Rio Copa Toastmasters since our club was chartered on May 13th, 2003. Since then he has achieved his Competent Toastmaster and Competent Leader award, competed in and won the R4 Area Tall Tales speech contest, and will be a training facillitor at District 3 Toastmasters Toastmasters Leadership Institute for club officers.
On June 18th Steven completed projects in the advanced Speaking To Inform and Story Telling manual to achieve the Toastmasters International Advanced Communicator Bronze award!
Steven's award helped our club achieve 10 out of 10 Distinguished Club Program goals for the second year in a row!
Congratulations Steven - You've come a long way and we can't wait to see where you'll go next!

Rico Burton Achieves Competent Communicator |

 Rico Burton joined Rio Copa Toastmasters in February 2008. Since then she's been on fire giving speeches! She was awarded her Competent Communicator Award on June 1st 2008!
Congratulations Rico!
Rico has already completed several projects from the Entertaining Speaker manual and has started the advanced speaking to inform and interpretive reading manuals.

Rico Takes 2nd place at Division Speech Contest |

Competing against some of the top speakers in District 3 Toastmasters Rico Burton took 2nd place at the Rio Division International Speech Contest on Saturday April 26th!
For a new comer such as Rico to place so highly at the Division contest is a rare accomplishment! Rico is the first Rio Copa Toastmaster to place at the Division level and second to WIN at the Area Level (Steven Martindale won the tall tales contest last year)!
The winner of the International Contest was last year's winner Rose Beeson.
Congratulations Rico! We're proud of you!

Inhye Peterson Achieves Competent Communicator Award! |

 Inhye Peterson joined Rio Copa Toastmasters in February of 2006. By June 2006 she had completed her first four speeches and was forced to take some time off to bring Baby Robert Jr into the world. In October 2007 Inhye was back to continue her journey! On April 23, 2008 Inhye completed her 10th speech in the Toastmasters Communication and Leadership Manual entitled "Journey to Self Discovery" to achieve the Competent Communicator Award! She will receive a nice Competent Communicator Award certificate from Toastmasters International in about 10 days.
Inhye works as an in Employee Organizational Development at Rio Salado College and currently serves as Vice President Membership for Rio Copa Toastmasters. Inhye plans to continue her journey by working through the Entertaining Speaker and Story Telling Advanced manuals.
Congratulations Inhye; You Rock!
Inhye's Competent Communicator Award helped our club achieve goal #2 on our Distinguished Club Plan. Rio Copa Toastmasters is one Advanced Communicator award away from being a President's Distinguished club for the 4th year in a row! This is especially significant since we'll be celebrating our 5th Anniversary as a club on May 13th.

Rico Burton wins R4 Area International Speech Contest! |

 The Rio Division Area 4 International Speech Contest was held on Saturday April 5th in Mesa Arizona. Rico Burton (second from the left) took first place!
