Dear Toastmaster Officers:
District 3 is introducing a new process for recruiting test speakers.
At times it is a major challenge for a contest chairman to
find people willing to be a test speaker for their evaluation contest. In an effort to make people readily available
as volunteer speakers, the Contest Management committee is building a pool of
volunteers who will act as a test speaker, if needed, during the upcoming
evaluation speech contest. This exciting
process is the brain child of Paiute Division Governor Vasanti Deshpandi!
Please encourage club members to join this volunteer pool of
speakers. The only qualification is that
the speaker and the club be members in good standing.* What an opportunity for members to add one
more speech toward completing their manual of preference!
The guidelines for this process are as follows:
- A
speaker will not be able to speak at an area contest of which he or she is
a member (e.g., a member of a club in C-1, would not be able to speak at
the C-1 contest, but could at any one of the others).
- Once a
member has been a test speaker at a contest, that member will not be able
to speak as a test speaker again during this contest season.
- This
list is NOT intended in any way to be an approved list of speakers and there
is no guarantee that anyone on the list will be asked to speak as a test
speaker. Please remember that Area
and Division Governors are free to choose their speakers, and are not
required to choose from this pool.
