2006 District 3 Fall Conference a Success! PDF Print E-mail

jd_hellenThe Toastmasters District 3 Fall Conference in Flagstaff on October 27th, 28th 2006 was a great success thanks to the many volunteers that worked behind the scenes.

JD Austin (left) was the Sergeant at Arms chair at the District Conference.  The 18 volunteer Sergeant at Arms from all over Arizona performed many of the behind the scenes functions at the conference such as controlling access to and from rooms, setting up educational sessions, directing people during ceremonies, and assisting speech contestants with the props needed during their speeches.

Helen Blanchard (right) was the key note speaker at the Fall District Conference and told the story of how she became the first female Toastmaster and International President.  Despite some resistance from some members in the all male Toastmasters organization of the time, Helen blazed the trail for women everywhere to become Toastmasters.

You might expect such people to act in a self import manner but not Helen Blanchard! She was friendly and approachable.  Meeting her was an inspiration and proof that every person can make a difference in their world!
