About Speech-a-Thon and Joke-a-Thon meetings PDF Print E-mail

Starting in February 2005, we'll be having special meetings to add variety and fun to the club.

The first two types of these meetings are Speech-a-Thon and Joke-a-Thon meetings.

What is a Speech-a-Thon?

To put it simply, a speech-a-thon is a meeting with no table topics.  Instead as many speakers as we can fit into the meeting will speak.  This meeting is intended to offset the Joke-a-Thon meetings.

To make evaluation easier in speech-a-thon meetings, Evaluator #1 will evaluate the odd speeches and Evaluator #2 will evaluate the even speeches.

A silent vote will be taken to choose best speech of the meeting!

Winner gets a certificate and a prize!

What is a Joke-a-Thon?

A joke-a-thon meeting has no formal speakers!  To fill the time, the table topics master will pick members at random to tell humorous jokes and stories.

  • Be sure to collect enough jokes/stories to fill your time!
  • Keep it clean!
  • People can be offended easily by off color jokes.

The goal is to have fun, so be creative!

A silent vote will be taken to choose best joke of the meeting!

Winner gets a prize!
