“Luck o’ the Irish”
The meeting was called to order by President John Desmond at 11:35. There were ten members and one guest present.
With eight members present, Steven Martindale led the pledge and shared several Irish quotes with the members. John acknowledged the attendance of Buddy Cheeks and Toni Bishop as guests for the day. Grammarian Mike Trier gave the Word of the Day: Misanthrope – one who hates or mistrusts mankind.
The minutes for the March 9th were approved as posted on the website. John then introduced the Toastmaster of the Day who was Azra Mahmood.
Azra called on the General Evaluator JD Austin to introduce his team which included:
Timer: Laura Buzin
Ah-Counter: Buddy Cheeks
Grammarian: Mike Trier
Speech Evaluator #1: Dolores King for John Desmond
Speech Evaluator #2: Azra Mahmood for Beth McNally
Azra then introduced the Topic Master of the day, Laura, who led the group in Trivia on Ireland and Things Gaelic.
John Desmond, giving one of his speeches from the Advanced Manual Project named Resources for Entertainment. The title of his speech was “I don’t have kids, but if I did…” John made me think of one of Erma Brombeck’s books entitled, Just Wait Until You Have Kids of Your Own.
Beth McNally persuaded the group with power doing her ninth project speech entitled: “The Rewards of Keeping a Journal.” I agree Beth there are many, of which my favorite is being able to see where I’ve come from and where I am planning to go.
General Evaluator Azra Mahmood called for reports from the evaluation team and then presented her general meeting evaluation.
John concluded the meeting by mentioning that dues are now due and all guests were welcome to join.
The meeting ended at 12:30.
Respectfully submitted,
Sandia Hayes with lots of help from John Desmond
